At the crack of dawn we arose for a daytrip out of Bangkok to the ancient Siamese capital Ayuthaya (pronunciation varied, although we settled on A-Tee-Ya). To travel the 53 miles, we went to Bangkok’s Hua Lomphong Railway Station to catch a train.
