I was making this trip to Connecticut in order to bury my father, whose ashes had been sent to the Episcopal church in Willimantic. On Sunday, October 24, I drove from North Carolina to northern New Jersey, to the home of a close friend, a fellow librarian, whom I had not seen for a few years. Her hospitality eased away the stress incurred from the hours of driving up the I 95 corridor. It was she who recommended that I visit the Suffern Public Library, which I did the next day on my unstructured way to Willimantic.
