Tags. A fun way to categorize.

Tags are labels or keywords that are used to group pictures, videos, albums and even people. Tagging is easy and fun, so once you start, you won't want to stop. Find out more about tags below or check out the FAQ page and then start tagging!

  • All about tags

You've always been able to add tags, or keywords, to your albums. Now you can add tags to individual photos and videos within the album, too. This is great when your album contains a variety of pictures and videos. For example, your Greece album can be tagged "Greece, travel, vacation, 2007," while your photo of the Parthenon at sunset in it can be tagged "Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens, sunset, temple, Greece." Notice that you can have spaces between tags, such as "Acropolis of Athens." You can use a phrase or a single word as a tag, so get creative and make your own unique tags, such as "Baby Jenny Month 1" or "Scenes of the West."

  • I tag, you tag, we all tag

Why tag? Well, tagging gives you the ability to quickly group photos that belong to separate albums. If you enter our weekly Creative Challenge, you could tag your entries with "Creative Challenge," then you (and others) can see all your submissions just by clicking on the "Creative Challenge" tag and viewing the results on your Tag tab on your Member Homepage — no need to create a separate "Creative Challenge" album anymore.

Also, al of your tags get fed into our search engine, making it easier for people to find your pictures, videos and albums. This is a great way to meet new people on Webshots and share your work with the Community.

  • Tag, you're it!

Now that you know more about tags and what you can do with them, you can go to any picture, video or album page and start adding tags.

Just click on the "tag it" icon and start typing in descriptive words and phrases into the "tag it" box. The next time you go to tag something, we'll bring up a list of "your commonly used tags" — instead of typing in a tag, you can just click on the one you want.

You can also add tags when you upload new pictures and videos to Webshots.
