  2. What types of images can I post to the Webshots Community?
You can post photographs you have taken or other images you have created. You can only post the work of other people if you have obtained permission to do so from the copyright owners, which are usually the people who created the images.

Webshots does not permit the online storage or sharing of photos containing pornographic material, and will delete images or albums containing this material or any material violating the Webshots Terms of Use.

This policy applies to both public and private albums.

  3. What would be examples of the types of images which should not be posted in the Webshots Community?
Generally images obtained from books, magazines, calendars or other websites should not be posted to the Webshots Community without the permission of the publisher or website owner.

Webshots does not permit the online storage or sharing of photos containing pornographic material, and will delete images or albums containing this material or any material violating the Webshots Terms of Use.

Specific examples of images removed for adult content include, but are not limited to:

    • Nudity

    • Women or men wearing thongs (g-strings)
    • Photos that concentrate on the genital area

  4. Why isn't my new or recently edited album visible in the Community?
Our Community server is designed to reload information on a schedule. If you add an album to the Community, you can expect it to be visible in the main directory up to 2 weeks. This excludes private albums which are not included.

  5. Can you tell me which photos in my album have the most views and who has viewed them?
No, we only track statistics for entire albums. We do not keep track of individual photos or who has viewed them.

  6. Why does it take one business day to show my Guestbook entry?
To keep the Guestbook fun for everyone, new submissions will take up to one business day to be approved and displayed on Webshots.

  7. How do I download an image from the Community?
Click on the Download button located on the right side of the image.

  8. Why can't I download an entire album from the Community?
Unfortunately, this feature is not available for the Community section.

The Community section is comprised of images that are uploaded by our members. The member has editing control and they can add or remove an image at anytime. This makes it too hard for us to make Community albums available as multiple image downloads, for the content of the albums is always changing.

  9. How does the My Favorite Members feature work?
My Favorite Members (located on the people tab in account) allows Webshots members to grow their own photo community. Members can create a list of Webshots members and keep track of all their photos within their Member Account. Browse the Webshots Community to find people you know, or photos you want to keep track of. Once inside an album, click the username, this will take you the persons community page. Click on the "bookmark member" tab.

  10. How many favorite members can I add to my Webshots community page?
All Webshots members (free and paid) can add up to 250 favorite members as well as 250 friends. Please note that if you have a member added as your "friend" you can't add them to your "favorites".

  11. Why are my photos being deleted from the Community?
If Webshots becomes aware of the presence of copyright infringing material on its server or through notification by a third party who alerts Webshots of the specific location of the materials, Webshots reserves the right to delete all files and remove the member without any warning.

Webshots does not permit the online storage or sharing of photos containing pornographic material and will delete images or albums containing this material or any material violating the Webshots Terms of Service: Terms and Conditions of Use.

This policy applies to both public and private albums. We hope this policy will provide the majority of our users and their children with a family-friendly place for sharing and finding beautiful photographs.

  17. What does Webshots do to prevent copyright infringement in the Webshots Community?
    • Members must represent and warrant that they are the owners of the copyrights in all of the materials they submit to Webshots or that they have obtained permission to submit the images from the copyright owners.
    • When copyright owners notify us of postings which they believe infringe their rights, we promptly delete the postings from the Webshots Community.
    • Once a copyright owner has advised us that s/he does not want her/his images in the Webshots Community, we delete any future postings of the images that we become aware of.
    • Each time we delete a posting on the basis of an infringement complaint, we send the responsible member a stern warning. If we receive repeated complaints about the postings of a particular user, we will delete all of the albums within the member's account and disable the account from further use.
    • We include a copyright infringement warning in our photo upload screen.

  18. Does Webshots monitor the Community and delete any copyright infringing postings?
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to review all Community images for possible copyright infringements -- approximately 100,000 new images are uploaded to the Community each day. Also, in most cases, it is not possible to know whether an image was uploaded without the permission of the copyright owner. However, we promptly remove postings that are reported to us by copyright owners as infringements of their rights.

For additional information about reporting infringing postings, visit our Report Community Copyright Violations page.
