This excludes private albums, which are not included in search results. When you add an image to an existing album, it is pulled from the main directory and put through the photo approval process. On average, the approval process can take up to 24 hours. This time can increase on the weekends and holidays. You can always access your albums by clicking the My Photos tab.

- Why can't I download an entire album from the Community?
Unfortunately, this feature is not available for the Community section.
The Community section is comprised of images that are uploaded by our members. The member has editing control and they can add or remove an image at anytime. This makes it too hard for us to make Community albums available as multiple image downloads as the content of the albums is always changing.

This same policy applies to the uploading of images deemed pornographic in nature.
Webshots reserves the right to delete pictures from accounts that have been dormant for more than 6 months.

- Does Webshots monitor the Community and delete any copyright infringing postings?
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to review all Community images for possible copyright infringements. Approximately 100,000 new images are uploaded to the Community each day. Also, in most cases, it is not possible to know whether an image was uploaded without the permission of the copyright owner. However, we promptly remove postings that are reported to us by copyright owners as infringements of their rights. For additional information about reporting infringing postings, visit our Report Community Copyright Violations page here.

- How are my views and download statistics calculated?
Each time the album or photos within an album is selected in the Webshots Community, it counts as a single view for that album. Views are compiled by album and not on a per-photo basis. When an image is downloaded into the Webshots Desktop software, it is tallied as a download. (Please note: statistics are not counted for private albums.) Viewing your own images from within My Photos will not contribute to the total views for the album. It does not count as a view. However, a download of an image from within My Photos will count towards the download total for the album. Views/Day is the number of times an album has been viewed divided by the total number of days the album has been in existence. For example, if an album was created 10 days ago and it didn't get any views for 9 days but then got 100 views on the 10th day, the Views/Day would be 10.

- I've been trying to upload my pictures but it takes a long time or times out. Why is this happening?
There are two reasons why this could be happening.
The image you are trying to upload is very large. Try converting your files to .jpg format (which are dramatically smaller than uncompressed .bmp or .tiff files) before uploading.
You're uploading images during a busy or "peak" time on the Internet. Because of this, it may take a long time to upload or the server may time out. Try uploading the images at another time.

- My photos are not included in Search or the Community Directories. Why is this and how can people find them?
Our Community server is designed to reload information on a schedule. If you add or make changes to an album, expect it to be visible in the main directory and search engine within 2 weeks. This excludes private albums, which are not included in the main directory. When you add an image to an album, it is pulled from the main directory and put through the photo approval process. On average, the approval process can take up to 24 hours. This time can increase on the weekends and holidays. You can always access your albums by clicking the My Photos tab or by going directly to your Community page. To access your Community page, visit the Daily page and click the Communitytab. Enter your membername under Find a Member and click Go.

- What does Webshots do to prevent copyright infringement in the Webshots Community?
Photos uploaded to the community may be downloaded as wallpapers/screensavers through the Webshots desktop software. You have the permission to grant designated friends to view and save the full size image. Members must represent and warrant that they are the owners of the copyrights in all of the materials they submit to Webshots or that they have obtained permission to submit the images from the copyright owners.
When copyright owners notify us of postings which they believe infringe their rights, we promptly delete the postings from the Webshots Community.
Once a copyright owner has advised us that s/he does not want her/his images in the Webshots Community, we delete any future postings of the images that we become aware of.
Each time we delete a posting on the basis of an infringement complaint, we send the responsible member a stern warning. If we receive repeated complaints about the postings of a particular user, we will delete all of the albums within the member's account and disable the account from further use.
We include a copyright infringement warning in our photo upload screen.

Webshots has purchased the rights to use the Professional Photos within Webshots. We are not authorized to allow them to be used elsewhere. - How are tags helpful?
Tags are labels or keywords that are used to group pictures, videos, and albums. You can add tags to individual photos and videos as well as to the album. This is great when your album contains a variety of pictures and videos. For example, your Greece album can be tagged "Greece, travel, vacation, 2009," while your photo of the Parthenon at sunset in it can be tagged "Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens, sunset, temple, Greece." Notice that you can have spaces between tags, such as "Acropolis of Athens." You can use a phrase or a single word as a tag, So get creative and make your own unique tags, such as "Baby Jenny Month 1" or "Scenes of the West." To add a tag, open the album or click on the photo or video and then select add tags. Start typing descriptive words or phrases and separate each tag with a comma. Click apply to keep the changes. You can find a list of interesting tags here

- What's the difference between a caption and a tag?
A caption adds context to a picture. Let's say you have a photo of a rose from your garden. You might caption it: A beautiful rose from my garden. But you might tag it: rose, flower, garden, red, macro, award winning. Those tags allow you to associate your rose photo with other pictures that share the same tags.

- Why should I tag?
All of your tags get fed into our search engine, making it easier for people to find your pictures, videos and albums. Tagging also gives you the ability to quickly group photos that belong to separate albums but share similar themes, such as "flowers" "my pets" and "vacation."
